2/27/2008:

Update!  I've been back and forth a lot lately and I realized that I never posted anything about a swap that I took a part in last year.  Well, I got my package in January for the Unofficial Holiday swap for the mlparena and I'll be posting about that in more detail.  I will say though that it was an awesome package.  I look forward to participating in another swap when funds permit.  Shipping and extra's can take a big toll on the wallet I found.

But I have bought a couple of things recently.  My birthday was Monday (2/22) so I figured I'd indulge.  That, and the pony that I purchased was one that I'd been wanting for a while.  So I'm going to get cracking on updating my wishlist as well as my collection and sales listings.

I've decided that to keep from going overboard, that I'm going to focus on certain ponies/sets.  So.

I'm not going to worry about completing the TE set because there are some of them that I really just don't like the look of.  The same is true of the TAF ponies and flutter ponies.  As for the Carousel Ponies, I will more than likely focus on completing the set since I like all of them.  Currently I have two which I received in my holiday package of awesomeness.

Oh yes, I will be doing a complete update and possible site overhaul (I haven't decided on that yet) in March since it's Spring Break the second week and I won't have much to do other than get ahead on class work.

12/06/2009:

MASSIVE CHRISTMAS & HOLIDAY SALE

Over 40 ponies and anime merchandise!

Sailor Moon, Death Note, etc.

That's right, I'm offering a bunch of items for sale for the holidays as well as commissions.  Discounts on things that have been on the site for a while and new things as well.  Because, let's face it.  I'm a student, and it's the holidays.  Need I say more?  Click on the Sale/Trade Link to get to the page with the stuff.  I've posted as many pictures as I have available, but am still taking more, so feel free to check back often.

There are also pictures up on flickr.  MLP  Sailor Moon & Anime Stuff

10/14/2009: I actually bought something.  I went out yesterday and I got the 25th Birthday Celebration Collector Set.  I've been looking at it for over a year in the stores I go to debating on whether or not I would actually purchase it, so I finally did.  I am lucky enough to live by a few stores that have My Little Pony items (11 to be precise) and of those the two Toys R Us stores, I've noticed often have things that are  not available online, or are sought after by other collectors because they're not in the stores that they frequent.  I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't start up some sort of shopping service.

I also saw the triple collector sets for the Vintage ponies which are usually in the stores when I go.  I think I may try to get those next.  I haven't really decided as of yet.  Especially since there is that bed that I'm saving for.  It's only a hundred dollars, but I was told that mattresses are expensive and my research online has confirmed this.  (I've never actually bought one before.) But that doesn't really have much to do with ponies, so on to the stuff.

Can Hasbro Still Hack It?

I'm going to break with the usual sort of acquisition update to talk about the Newborn Baby Cuties and the Littlest Pet Shop Ponies.
When I was in Target and Wal-mart yesterday (I don't think I noticed if they were at Toys R' Us.) I saw that the core seven were really styalized.  There were barely any of the old G3 bodies left.  So I figured maybe it was a special, but I'm guessing that Hasbro has changed the bodies again.  Are they really trying to compete with their own lines now?  Or have they found that the littlest pet shop toys sell better?  I honestly think that if they released more of a variety of ponies and more of the giant plushies, they wouldn't have this problem in selling them.  They've rather done themselves in with this as there are no more pose varieties and all we see now are the limited special ponies or ponies that are the same pose with new paint and a new accessory.  As a casual collector (I'm still in school so I only buy when I can actually afford it, I find it hard to spend my money on something that looks like one or two other somethings that I already have which are supposedly a different pony.

The only solace I have is that there are ponies out there which are available to me by the wonderful people of the mlparena, etsy, and ebay which is where I tend to do most of my shopping and some of the better ponies in my collection have come from these.  (Heart Throb & Galaxy which I prize highly, Glory, Whizzer, Kimono, Silver Glow, etc.) But I do enjoy going out to the shops and hunting for a pony in person and finding a gem among all of the stuff that I just don't want.  I miss that.  And I think that Hasbro has no idea of the collector's spirit.

10/12/2009: I've uploaded new pictures to the gallery. Yay.  I think while I'm repairing things here, I might add a blog as well for those who might be interested in me.  Or wonder what the special thing that I'm saving for is.  (a bed)

10/11/2009: I haven't updated in some time.  I'm thinking of putting up a web comic or something so that people will have a reason to come back.  Of course I'll also upload art.  I've actually been working on a new set of pieces.  I've got time off from school and once I explain what's been going on to the best of my ability, I'll hopefully have non negative time off of work as well.  Something has come up and I'm taking off of work and school (assuming that I can't work on campus while not enrolled).  But anyway, that means that I'll be in need of money so I will likely not be buying too many new ponies and actually trying to sell off some of the ones I have.  I would much rather not do that, but there are more important things.

But with all of that being said, I'm also taking art commissions.  I will be doing various kinds, but I'm really trying to push my $10 commissions.  For $10 +shipping you will receive a four by six inch full color drawing with one figure and a background/prop.  If you would like another figure in the drawing it will be $12.  I will aslo be selling off original artwork, pony and otherwise.

There will be another update soon, in which I will list the ponies that I have available.

5/13/2009 I've started collecting Ponyville Ponies as well. I'm going to start up some sort of comic project with my ponies and hopefully it will get posted this summer. I'm not out for summer break though because I'm attending classes, but I will have three free days a week that I'm looking forward to. 3/12/2009
I've gotten a bit deeper into collecting than I originally intended it seems. I have a very limited pony budget and I've gotten through more than half of it already and I have the collection to prove it. lol
But there are some nice ones and I've been able to tick a few off of my personal dream list. As well as somet that I didn't really know I'd have wanted. I also have a few that will be posted up for sale soon and I'll be making a proper sales page with contact info and everything for all of the ponies and Sailor Moon stuff that I intend to part with. As well as pictures of the collection.
12/10/2008
Site update! I've just been through and marked off some ponies on my wants list that I've already picked up. I just ordered two of the black ponies that I wanted and a few others that I got last month. I haven't been to the thrift store in a while and may try to go this weekend. I've just started customizing and have started on my first project so we'll see how it goes.
If you want to see art when the updates get sparse around here, then you can go to my deviantart page at gothicsugar. It's supposed to be just for paintings and Sugar Pop Dreamland stuff, but I did ad an extra section to include My Little Pony art.

11/26/2008 Well, I haven't posted about any new ponies in exactly four months, but that doesn't mean I haven't been getting any new ponies!
I actually have a bit of a larger collection than what I had back in July and I think I went overboard. I'm now up to 30+ ponies. Initially, I just wanted to get some lunchboxes like what I had when I was a child, and I did, but not before spending $_ _ _. Sadly, they're taking over quite a bit of my space so I'm going to put a stop to purchases for a while. I haven't bought a pony since mid/late October. So I'm being very good because there are lots of ponies that I kind of want.
My local Toy's R Us has the collection of core 7 with their names done as peace, joy, et cetera . But at the same time, I don't want them to just sit where they are collecting dust. My little sister (13) is like, let me come over and we'll play with them. I don't think it's a bad idea really.

8/01/2008:  I don't have any ponies to report, but there is new art in the gallery of one of my pony characters.  It's a color picture of Starwisp.

7/28/2009: 7 regular MLP's 2 small (McDonalds?) and four fakies.

  1. Birthday Pony 1985 (ink stains, will try to remove)
  2. Sweet Pocket  1990 (bait, missing pocket thingy, hair's been cut)
  3. Beddy Bye Eye Baby Sundance (a little dirty)
  4. Sparkleworks 1st ed. (needs cleaning)
  5. Pinkie Pie 1st ed.
  6. Applejack G3
  7. Moondancer G3
  8. McDonalds(?) Minty
  9. McDonalds(?) Sunny Daze

7/26/2008: Today's acquisitions: 7 fakies and two G3's names currently unknown Thrift and Dollar Store finds.  I also found some regular priced ponies for retail, but I've got other obligations, so I have to get them at a later date.

-Fair Weather & Thistle Whistle (she smells like candy and has brown spots so I'm cleaning her.)

7/23/2008: Today's acquisitions: Pinky Pie and Paradise Island.

It's not the standard Pinky Pie that I've seen online.  This one has hearts on the underbelly (side) and the legs as well as a gradation from the body going from the main color pink down to a dark pink.  It was a bit less than average because the box was damaged.  Score.  I hadn't even intended on getting it.  Originally, I was looking for a pony with a pose that I liked for customization purposes when I saw the Paradise Island pony.  But, it was the only one like it, so I bought it and I'll just keep it as is.  And I was outbid on the lunchbox I wanted this morning.  So sad.  But my collection is up to ten ponies!

And I'm working on a couple of bands of ponies right now.  One is a set of Merponies and the others are Pegasus ponies.

7/15/2008: I went out pony hunting today at a couple of the local thrift stores.  I wanted to find some lunchboxes, because that's what I'm really looking to start collecting right now, but I found eight ponies instead between two stores.

My younger sister and I were at the Value Village thrift store and I was looking for ponies while she was looking in the book section and I ended up with a single bag.  I hat the way that they're set up because you go in and I'm sifting through all of these toys in bags, but I can't open them, so I end up with a bag and the pony's in there, but there's also all these little funky toys.  But anyway, while I was there, I found and G3 pony called Misty Blue.  The cleanest one of the day actually.

At the other thrift store (the American Family Thrift Store) I actually had help looking.  The two of us went up and down the plastic toy aisle where again, I had to look through all these little baggies, but we did a pretty good amount of work.  From that store, we found between us seven ponies.  I hate going to that particular store because it just feels gross, like I had the suspicion that they didn't really clean their stuff.  And my sister, who I'd warned to wear gloves when we went back there, said as soon as we entered, that the store felt dirty and she refused to put the things we bought at the other thrift store into the basket.

Unfortunately though, it turned out that I was right.  After I pulled the ponies out of their bags and separated them from the other funky little toys they were in with, I saw that there were sticks and nasty little things stuck in their hair and my Star Dancer was not anywhere near being white.  So I scrubbed them with antibacterial soap for about an hour till they looked presentable and de-frizzed all of their hair.  So now I've got some fairly presentable ponies.

Um, that being said, there were a couple of casualties.  I found a Meadow Moon (butterfly pony/sprite?) and a Fluttershy Pony which each have irreparable damage.  It turns out that the Fluttershy had a rusted tail and the rust was on the inside, so I removed the head as well as the and spent a while getting it clean.  As for the Meadow Moon, it's missing a wing.

So, today's list includes;

  1. Star Catcher: fabric wings
  2. Misty Blue
  3. Wysteria v. IV
  4. Autumn Crisp
  5. Savannah Sage
  6. 1984 Mommy Sweet Celebrations
  7. Fluttershy: will be using as a custom
  8. Meadow Moon: will be using as a custom
